Virginia NG 29th infantry patch is blue and gray the patch that I saw was black and gray but same logo design (could also be an exposure thing with the color). I also can't seem to find any information about them being stationed at GITMO.
We were wearing red white and blue flags and a BR1 patch during our deployment in Iraq until half way through then switched to and IR flag and a grey and black BR 1 patch. We were Mobile Infantry.
With all the hopium, misinformation, and propaganda floating around the interwebs these days, I wanna see photo evidence of those patches. This would be big news.
29th doesn't "handle" GITMO. It's a rotating assignment. Different Guard units do tours down there, usually MP units. 29th is an entire Infantry division of VA National Guard, with a MP Company.
I also saw a bunch of MPs from the 53rd Troop Command in NY (also Guard) they did tours at GITMO as well.
Of course, you can't really tell whether they're MPs or truck drivers by the patch.
The left arm is your actual unit you're assigned to. If it's on the right, that just means they may have once been attached to that unit on a deployment in the past. In the guard, you can change out the right patch at any time with any unit you've been attached to. Meaning there might be some truth to the posts claim.
Ok here is some information from Wiki about the 29th:
"The 29th ID currently serves as the Domestic All-Hazards Response Team (DART) in FEMA Regions 1 through 5 (states east of the Mississippi). In this role the 29th ID is prepared to assist state National Guard in their service to governors and citizens during an incident response.[49] The DART provides defense support of civil authority capabilities in response to a catastrophic event. The DART conducts joint reception, staging, onward-movement and Integration of inbound OPCON forces and establishes base support installations and /or forward operating bases for sustaining operations.[50]"
So it is entirely possible that the 29th Infantry is there in support of the Guard. I see no mention of this unit in GITMO.
The 29th Infantry Division, also known as the "Blue and Gray Division", is an infantry division of the United States Army based in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. It is currently a formation of the U.S. Army National Guard and contains units from Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and West Virginia

On the combat uniform, everything will be in a subdued color. Blue and grey arent really camo uniform colors.

Interesting things at Belvoir. You won't find out a lot about them though.
but YES ; that's probably the photo
all I've got is wikipedia (3rd paragraph) -- but has the subdued color version

Which sleeve was it on? It makes a difference. A big difference.
On the left thank God
What does that mean?

significant if so. Only POTUS would be able to move regular forces AFAIK.
Whaaaaa?
Reasoning doesn't have to check out, it's on
I though GITMO was a Marine/Naval base.
Says on the wiki page for 29th infantry that it’s part of the national guard. Not sure how that works but that explains it.
source is third/fourth-hand, BardsFM from today @8:14
If the insignia is on their right sleeve, it's a combat patch. Look on their left sleeve for unit patch.
