Am I the only one who finds it a little surprising they didn't already have metal detectors??

Not saying it's right or wrong, just that I assumed they would have had them.

We had metals detectors from Middle School through High School!

The detectors were always at the Capitol and office building entrances, and members have always been allowed to bypass them and wave their entourages around as well. Thus members have firearms in their offices, I believe one even publicly stated he kept an AR15 there, and could freely use the subway tunnel to travel to the Capitol. This new set is for show at the doors to the House floor, and Pelosi is saying no walking around them.

Until now, it was don't ask, don't tell on having a pistol in your pocket on the floor.

This makes more sense. I worked for my local government for a few years and this is exactly how it was. If you has a badge, you walked past the metal detectors.

All this is so ridiculous!
