Correction, 25% in the Ellipse area, not the general Washington monument area. It was weird that they left early. 25% might be a high estimate, 10-20%. Most that were leaving appeared to be families with children or older people. Not the riot type.
Maybe there were others that left early that I didn’t witness.
I was near monument and came down about halfway thru speech trying to keep warm by moving around. Freezing temps. The crowd was so packed near the ellipse that body warmth raised temps. Very hard to move thru crowd.
I hung around after the speech was over to use the port johns but eventually gave up because the lines were so long.
I was hoping to find more porta johns but about halfway to Capital Building I decided I better make my way towards Starbucks or the Mandarin Oriental because I couldn’t see any going forward. Didn’t notice any rioting at that time but I was tired and clueless.
Found a porta John on a side street. Decided to have lunch at my car. By the time I finally walked back to capital building the riot was underway. It was surreal. At first I didn’t know. I had passed huge crowds on my way there and was disturbed that these people were leaving not knowing that they were escaping the riot. I saw no barricades. People were yelling at me to go up the stairs into the bleachers.
There was a very old lady wandering around in the chaotic frey. I helped her find her group. I’ll never forget how strange that scene was. Very upset that my GoPro was out of memory.
lol ok buddy, with the new account that just started coming to this site. YEAH!! we've heard stories already from people we know that were actually their as you say. LOL we can also watch all the videos from ourselves.
colonial parking ramp near Target/Best Buy et al and a Giant grocery store...actually the grocery has an elevator leading into the parking ramp. I really liked the ramp it kept my dog away from prying eyes and away from street noise, and was nicely shaded so hopefully she just rested and wasn't freaked out that I was gone for a few hours.
And I’m still jealous.. I had a shoulder operation and couldn’t drive..’ I wish I had fallen off the one wheel just to be around so many patriots.. you are lucky. And maybe it was a blessing you fell down. You didn’t follow those into the building

Lol. Your story debunked itself. Capital is closer to speech than any Target.
Don’t worry, Your life is going to be a lot shittier in the near future. At least you will look back and know that you weren’t entirely apathetic.

Maybe...I was pretty pissed and might have gone inside in the heat of the moment!
