I know, a lot of people are down, so I thought I'd offer up a little feel good story. This is totally not election related, so hopefully it's a nice distraction, if even for a moment.

Some of you may remember one of my earlier posts. I wasn't able to make it to DC on the 6th because I was in a serious car accident on the 4th. I'm healing up wonderfully, by the way. The dizzy spells have stopped, and it looks like the gash on my head will barely leave a scar. The knee that went through the dashboard still feels weak, but the swelling is less every day, and I can stand and walk for a little while without the brace. Although, I may have overdone it today.

Anyway, just a few minutes ago, my neighbor stopped by. Her boys saw the wreck of my truck sitting in the driveway, and said they wanted to do something nice for me, so they made chocolate chip banana bread. We're not particularly close, but her oldest still talks about the time I "rescued" them. They had just moved in and weren't well versed in "country" life. They panicked when the funny looking turtle in their yard hissed at them. It was a snapper.

So in the midst of all the hell and chaos raging around us, just remember, there are still good people in the world. There are people willing to look beyond themselves and extend a hand to someone in need. If those kids can keep that spirit, there's still hope for this country.

I hope this has taken your mind off of things for just a little while, and if you feel the need to say something cruel or cynical, do us all a favor. Keep it to yourself.
