(Most Likely) There was a deep state coup with the heads of the military - Trump is no longer in power what-so-ever. They placed the military there to protect their new corrupt regime from the people.
(Most Depressing) Trump placed the troops there because he buckled to the pressure of the deep state actors. He basically surrendered and was playing checkers, not 4D chess.
(Most Hopium) 12D chess and he used this as an excuse to get 20,000 troops under his control in DC for when he arrests the whole swamp on the 20th.
Because he only had the support for the 2ed one, he made the right call too, maybe not to not call them on the first one, but the 2ed still prevents unnecessary harm, this can still be won peacefully and with better PR

Either the president has lost all power and his handlers are in absolute control or he put them there for a reason.

Xiden is a failed president already. He will be sworn in under siege and seldom seen in public.
I believe he is the only one that controls it in DC. The rest of the states, the governors control it.

He did call the DC guard up like 10 times last year for differant riots. The states governors control there own states national guards.
That WAS antifa, not Trump Supporters.
States did not request National Guard for Antifa. That is the answer.
National Guard helped Trump supporters not get hurt. .
