And yet the same people get back into office year after year.... almost as if there is something illegitimate about our elections.

Either that or the average person is so much less intelligent than I had assumed.

Maybe but there’s so much inertia behind the incumbent it isn’t even funny.

Take Lindsey as an example. The guy gets primaried by like half a dozen people. Maybe they’re all better than Lindsey but Lindsey can gladhand his established backers and base and point to some accomplishments and the others just have a totally fractured vote in an election that has low turnout. Then you get to the general and they run some Mao approved candidate and the Republicans all think “well, I don’t like Lindsey but at least he’s better than the Dem.” Rinse and repeat. It sucks, but I totally see how it happens. We have to coalesce MAGA around a sole challenger in the primaries or we’re hosed.

We need term limits for congress and judges. It doesn’t make sense that there are only term limits for the executive branch.
