Most of the shit going on in America right now is due to the media. Most people read the headlines and that's enough. The mainstream media knows this and they take advantage of it by publishing outrageous lies in their headlines. Yes, I know even articles and stories themselves are biased, but most of America doesn't get beyond the headlines. That's why she doesn't know anything besides "he incited violence."
I had the same conversation with many people about why they voted for Biden. They could only tell me Trump is a racist. When pressed for evidence of that, I heard "good people on both sides" as the evidence. Most of us here know that wasn't said the way the media reported it.
I'm going to be completely honest. I was one of those people. I didn't like Trump because I thought I wasn't supposed to like him, but over the summer that changed. And then, a huge change for me came after one of the debates when they asked Trump to denounce the proud boys or white supremecists or whatever. They asked him to tell them to stand down and he asked who, which group. Trump then said exactly what the moderator asked for. The media ripped him apart for it and said he refused to tell them to stand down. I couldn't believe it. It was at that point that I finally realized the media had lied completely about Trump for the last 4 years.
The point is, our media has too much power and control. Their job is to inform the public but over the last 10 years (or more) they've had to change their business model because of big tech. That's caused the media to focus on teh sensational and our public is too ignorant and/or gullible and/or lazy to realize what's going on.
