I am a Native Texan and Texas is pro-NRA. This past Sunday, i drove an hour and a half to buy my 10 year old a new 12 gauge for his birthday, as he has outgrown his 20 gauge (according to him). While I was there, my 12 year old wanted to use his own money he earned to buy Creedmoor 6.5. I have no criminal record, but after running the background check, the guy tells me, "They put a delay on your background check. You are the 6th or 7th of the day. We will call you when it clears." Tomorrow is Thursday, and I've heard nothing. I believe that because I was buying a rifle (or 2 guns) I will be blacklisted. This will be the new norm I am afraid.

Wouldn't worry about it. It was backed up last week and took a few days to clear and that was only on buying one gun.
You will be fine. Happened to me too. They are busy!
I hope so. Thank you to those responding. I guess they are overwhelmed with background checks, and I can certainly understand why.
They have been backing up since mid June.
Of course they are.
Your name makes me really like you. The second middle name in particular.
I pay my boys for straight A's and penalize them for anything less. They also help me working cattle. No allowance, they have to earn it.
I think 22-250 is a better gun, but try explaining that to a 12 year old who wants every gun on Earth. I told him he might not even be able to shoot it for a year due to ammunition shortage. We have 22-250 ammo....didn't faze him. Even the man behind the counter told him he ran 2,900 rounds through his 22-250 before he had to replace the barrel. Lol, it's his money and he earned it, so I who am I to discourage him. He's very responsible and never spends his money. At least he will have it a very long time, unless it gets confiscated.
It all depends on use. 22-250 is a great round though. If ammo availability was his concern though 308 /7.62x51 last longer on shelves here. 300 blackout, 6.5 creedmoor and 223/5.56 go almost the same day a shipment comes in. For long range I still prefer my old 270 but only a few boxes ever come in at a time right now
Varmint hunting for the 22-250. He uses a 7 mag for deer hunting.
Yeah 22-250 is great for that. Even deer at under 300 yards it typically does well.
They are coming for our guns.
But as Jamal on the southside of Chicago can attest
No one can stop what is gunning
Very true!
Jose in San Fran seconds that
Now in about 7 days yeah I'd worry
It would be a shame if everyone suddenly had them all stolen from their homes. Or lost them in fishing accidents. Or
They didn't sell me any so I have nothing to worry about. Mt 10 year old was borrowing the 20 gauge. This would have been the first time for me to personally own a firearm.
One more note. I've spoken with a few Texans and several FFL dealers with more knowledge in the area than I have and the consensus is right now the government does not even have a system saying who has what. They would have to demand paperwork from your ffl dealer which if it was a 2nd amendment issue I imagine most would torch the paperwork. But let the idiots push it. You want to see southern and midwestern states leave the union then start messing with our 2nd Amendment rights.
