I understand what you are saying. But its not cause enough to give up. You say "why bother?" And the answer is- This is our home. These are our lives. This is The United States of America damn it! Thats why "we bother".
They got away with it once. And sure, they may be able to do it again. But they may not. People may be paying more attention next time. They will know what to expect, where to look, who to look at, etc. I mean imagine someone breaks into your house and steals your tv. Wouldnt you buy better locks? Security cameras? A gun? A guard dog? Etc. But I do get what you are saying. And it is very possible they just declare themselves king. In which case, they still want to destroy Trumps legacy because they know he still has a massive base. (He didnt lose any support really. Still has high support). Which they dont like that. They figure if they villainize him, he will lose support, and they will either gain that support or keep those people un-united and in disarray
