Our current government organization is predicated on XVIII-century information speed. We need to make referendum the corner stone of modern democracy at the local level, but also above. I revere the Constitution but it becomes abundantly clear that elected officials do not respect It. So time for the people to speak again.

Not happening. Step back from the ledge. They need 2/3 of both chambers and 3/4 of state legislatures to make that happen.

Over 90 Senators just voted to certify an election that they all know was fraudulent. Trust level is zero

They didn’t have the political cover to do it. That’s the fault of the state legislatures. We have a bunch of cuck faggots running around larping as lawmakers that wouldn’t do what needed to be done in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and in Michigan. Don’t get me wrong there were a few good ones but a lot of them decided they would rather hide in the corner and fellate themselves than do what’s right. This is true before and after the election. I’m not going to lay the blame completely on the senators. I find it far more reprehensible that a lot of them threw Trump under the bus over the capitol fiasco than I do certifying the election.

We don't even know the "good ones" weren't just playacting at this point, to give us the illusion our voice was being heard.

That really falls on the state legislatures. Or do you want Congress deciding elections from now on?

they'd never get 3/4 of the legislatures. founders weren't stupid cucks like today. we have cuck city and their checks and balances are still preventing total clown world. they want to abolish the EC because that makes things easier to steal and also gives cities even more power (the same shining beacons on hills that are Detroit Baltimore, SF etc..). The shitholes destroyed by decades of back to back socialism and pandering to blacks.

We need to repeal the 17th amendment and get back to letting our reps choose the senate. Reinvigorate the state legislatures and re-empower by defusing the power that has been usurped by the federal government since reconstruction. That’s how we limit corruption. We don’t need individuals making new laws on popular whims otherwise we will end up with bad law made in the heat of emotional turmoil.

Apparently they'd just give it away to some election commission like they gave away their power to choose electors.

Do NOT even begin to suggest direct vote by computer. Haven't we seen enough of that? Block chain be damned. It's only a matter of time.

And that fraud would be investigated by whom, the same people currently investigating the fraud? Our problem is not a lack of evidence, it's a lack of officials willing to look at the evidence.

If we're doing online voting, how about we can vote before election day and change our vote up until election day? No more fake polls

9% approval rating to me would mean these mother fuckers could be easily primaried. Political machines would say otherwise.

I wish somebody would poll me on congressional approval, I could singlehandedly cut that down to 4 or 5%😆

We need to move back towards being states first, country second.

Is this like the Marius vs. Sulla power struggles? Or Caesar vs. the Senate?

The resemblance to Roman history is uncanny. I mean after the Punic Wars, Rome had a deep state, big time.

So, mob rule?

The count of Congressional representatives is capped by the count of chairs in a room hundreds of not thousands of miles away from the people they represent. Yeah, time to change something.

Term limits would really grind a lot of bullshit to a halt.

So we write it into our new constitution when we secede. The first document ought to be revered, and we shouldn't deviate far from the protections it offers, but it's obvious at this point we need a reset of our own. We ought to seek out the weaker parts in the document--like the fact that private entities can censor free speech without repercussions--and make sure we close those loopholes.

What’s going on is exactly the opposite of what our founding fathers wanted. Our founders were very wary of tyranny and of mob rule. The thing is we have the Constitution and laws. However, our “elected” officials do not live by the law.

The U.S has gotten too large for representative government to function. It either needs to balkanize, modernize the system, or choose another mode of government.

PSA on Referendums and Initiatives

Referendums, are for the people to STOP laws being enacted by the legislature.

They are not the same thing as (popular) initiatives, which is legislation being proposed by some part of the constituents. But often in discussions, both is being referred to as referendums.

Hence, referendums (in my humble view) can only be good, as it is a tool of the people to stop unnecessary / harmful legislation being enacted.

It works as a brake on legislative activity; also it slows down the whole thing as the referendum needs to be organized, which doesn't allow for laws to take effect a few days after passage.
