What's wrong with it? These people aren't out engaging in firefights on the frontline. May they aren't cut out for the Army or Marines and they know it, but still want to serve in a way they can, so they join the guard. Maybe they just want to get involved with stuff like this, but are last their prime or have their hands full with home and family stuff.
I'm fine with someone getting involved with the military on a path to personal betterment or patriotism.
But we need to drop the 'all service members are heroes' mantra and bullshit.
Obese women who eat burgers and pretend they are benefiting our country, when just costing the tax payer and burdening the armed forces is a lark..
The biggest problem is when enough of these type of 'service members' hits a critical mass, much like when enough of these types hit critical mass in the FBI? Etc. -- the overall quality of the organization declines significantly, and identity and diversity offices open, and the entire organization because politicized.
It's a slow decline. But once it happens, things get real fucking slippery real fucking fast.
I mean, they still have to do periodic training and PT. She must at least be able to hang to get through that. I knew this one dike who looked like a chubby slob, but she was a fucking tank and could crush in football. Even back in highschool nobody really made fun of her cause she was a hoot at all the parties and would hang with the dudes.
Also, someone pointed out that she was an officer, so at one point she was probably in decent shape, but let herself go due to not having to take part in as many exercises and honestly having a lack of really needed anything done.
I'm not saying they are all heroes, either. I've known some military dudes that were absolute faggots. Infact, I knew these group of dudes in the navy that would get together on weekends to play magic the gathering and discuss vegan restaurants. One dude in that group actually turned out to be pretty based and cool, the other ones... not so much. Point is, you can't always just a book based on its cover, not without knowing the story. (Although, many times you can)

They get deployed and serve in some bad situations at times. Good on anyone who serves and tries to make this country a better place.
