I would disagree, hunters pay for conservation through hunters safety courses and tag issuance. A game manager makes an analysis of herd populations in an area and determine the amount of tags that can be issued. This prevents overpopulation of a herd and prevents additional suffering of a herd when say we have a harsh winter and the deer or elk are competing for food and water. If a herd is too big for the environment they are in without any additional controls many more starve and throws off the balance of an ecosystem. Conservation and selective culling actually helps deer populations. Animal conservation in the United States is mostly funded by hunters.

I have personally found hunters of all kinds to be more realistic and pragmatic than environmentalists which is why it’s sad that hunting as a pastime is in sharp decline.

Hunters are more grounded, literally, by being dirt-cheap wildlife management. They bring in tax and spending dollars, on site knowledge and keep certain populations in check. They are preferable to our ‘enlightened’ policy makers who do not understand basic mathematics, can’t keep our parks and nature bureaus funded, but give free rein to devils like Monsanto or megacorp-owned agribusiness.
I also have no problem with manicured natural environments, what do you think a garden is? Would you prefer overrun weeds to fruits and vegetables? Nature is both ordered and chaotic and biological populations are dynamic. Nature also includes Man, its a myth that these predator-prey populations completely maintain themselves.

It’s only “sustainable” because they are and have to be restocked because otherwise the rivers would be totally fished empty within probably two years and none of the fish would naturally reproduce even if you stopped all fishing.
I live in Oregon, where we raise a lot of salmon in hatcheries. These hatchery salmon do successfully spawn in our rivers, although in lower numbers than wild salmon. The salmon populations are sustainable and are being sustained. The rivers would not be "totally fished empty" even if stocking where halted, but the hatchery program does supplement the numbers of harvestable fish.
You should also really make a distinction between commercial fishing and recreational fishing if you want to talk about the impacts.
Maybe you should fucking explain to that dumb bitch that those hunters are beloved by the locals in that area and that they serve a major purpose ecologically and economically.... almost all of those areas would starve and have to resort to poaching the very same animals themselves, but without any type of ecological responsibility on how it's done.... if it wasn't for the hunters that come over there and help sustain their economies, so that they only kill the animals that the park rangers need them to kill and that the major herds and younger animals are protected, would be a thousand times worse for the locals and the animals......
A lot of those animals are based off patriarchal or matriarchal societies and once either one of those animals gets extremely old they need to be culled out of the herd so the younger ones can move up into their place, otherwise it can put the lives of the entire herd at risk.... The cutting off of the tail is a ritual for the locals... It has nothing to fucking do with being a trophy..
