They have to have an actual senate trial dont they? Then the senate has to find him "guilty" and there is just no time to do that. On top of that by the time the senate has time to do it he (in theory) would be a private citizen. The senate cannot impeach anyone who is not the sitting president.
My concern is that he is going to stay president.... they know this and they also know they will have time to impeach him as the sitting president since he will stay in office. That complicates things more. It seems like they know he is staying and are trying to force him out by impeachment.
I havent heard anyone talk about this so take it with a grain of salt... thats just how I see it.
Impeachment itself carries no penalties. 2 x 0 = 0.

If the Senate held a trial President Trump would be able to bring evidence of all the fraud he talked about in the rally.
Trump was never found guilty in the Senate.
He can run again if he wishes.
If the Senate votes to convict, then no, he will be forbidden from holding federal office ever again.
