I appreciate the research looking into voter registration of these people, but you aren’t taking into consideration the politics of NYC and how a genuine Trump voter / protester could also be registered as a democrat.

As an Orthodox Jew from Brooklyn, I can 100% confirm that most orthodox jews from NYC are registered democrats and voted the Republican ticket for many years before Trump got into politics, and especially voted for Trump during the recent  elections. WE LOVE TRUMP, and it would be very difficult to find anyone in our community who doesn’t! We’ve had rallies, fundraiser events for him, and donated tens of millions of dollars to his campaigns. The only reason why we’re registered democrats is to have an influence on the local democratic primary candidates, choosing the better of both evils. If we’re registered as Republicans, we can’t vote in the Democratic primary, but registered as a democrat, we can. NYC has been blue for a long time, and there’s not enough of us to turn it red. The solution our community has taken is to register as democrat. This way we make an impact, and make waves in the local democratic politics.

There’s a few orthodox jewish politicians here in brooklyn that are “democrats” but are very much DINO’s who caucus with the Republicans. People like Simcha Felder, Simcha Eichenstein, Chaim Deutsch, Kalman Yeger etc. We vote for them and they make headaches for the dems like this: https://www.vox.com/2018/4/24/17276252/new-york-special-election-simcha-felder-democrats.

This dude arrested in the Capitol is an orthodox jew from Brooklyn, he's good friends with my buddy, and a registered democrat, but he’s 100% MAGA. Just like I am, and the majority of us in NYC.
