Please read up on why the South seceded (not slavery, but disputes about the nature of the federal government) and how they set up the Confederate government. Then read about Reconstruction and how the federal government grew in power after the war.
It was 100% slavery. They gave other legal arguments to make their position seem more justified but they only seceded when they wouldn’t be allowed to take slavery into new territories. The growth of the federal government was opportunism in the guise of preventing civil war, imo, but remember it was our bloodiest war and modern ideologies could not have been predicted by the people of the time
I must say this...I am sick of the Confederate flag...
No I do not want it banned, no it is not racist...
but it is the flag of America's enemy. American patriots have no business flying the flag of its enemies what so ever.
