"This report is maybe twelve years old. Parliament buried it, and it stayed buried till River dug it up. This is what they feared she knew. And they were right to fear, because there's a whole universe of folk who are gonna know it, too. They're gonna see it. Somebody has to speak for these people. You all got on this boat for different reasons, but you all come to the same place. So now I'm asking more of you than I have before. Maybe all. Sure as I know anything I know this, they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, ten, they'll swing back to the belief that they can make people…better. And I do not hold to that. So no more running. I aim to misbehave."

Someone can be a gifted story teller while still being an absolute idiot in every other way. It doesn’t mean you can’t respect the story you like.
It also applies to athletes. You can recognize that an athlete is really good at sportsball and acknowledge that they are wife beating scum who fight dogs in their spare time.
Cognitive dissonance.
Worth pointing out what was happening in the film here: the crew had just found a world where the authoritarian government (which controls the media) had tried to genetically modify the population to be "peaceful and compliant" using "routine injections". The people mostly just laid down and died, the ones who didn't turned into ravening cannibals who attack anyone not like them.
He used to be pretty based from what I've read, then like so many, he drank the Kool-aid and joined the Hollywood swamp club.
I love it. I posted it here like a week ago.
