Wars should only be fought to further political objectives. It's hard to find the objectives in most of our military action lately.

I supported the Iraq campaign, because I thought there might be a real strategy to change the trajectory of politics in the region and maybe kickstart something more or less democratic over there. Over time, it started looking more like we were protecting American petrodollars than trying to make the world any safer.

Now I just think I'd like to see fewer Americans maimed and killed
