Many are called, few are chosen. If repentance is based on free will then why do we find verses that read like this?

with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, — 2 Timothy 2:25

If man had free will we'd be able to grant repentance to ourselves. But as it is, God is the one who grants it. All are at the mercy of God to grant it to them.

Predestination is also true. There are verses for both. Personally, I think it has to do with God being outside of time and our inability to understand it. Deuteronomy 29:29

If predestination is true, then free will is not true. The two are mutually exclusive that's just basic common sense.
