All of us are at the mercy of God. My being chosen wasn't based on anything in me, anything good or bad I've done, or based anything something superior. He had mercy on me because He had mercy on me. That's the reason. God will in the end receive all of the glory because He is God.
No God does not wish or purpose to save everybody. He does not love everyone. In fact He hates certain people. He has prepared them for destruction and they will all die in their sins, for they have all sinned against Him and it is what they deserve.
You are overlooking something, while God is in control of all things, He still uses specific means to accomplish His purpose.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

This means apart from a man believing the gospel, there is no crossing from death to life, there is no conversion. Any supposed conversion testimony that doesn't contain the gospel shared and believed is not a legitimate conversion. He uses means.
How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”

Also none of us know who among the lost are hated by God. They could well be loved and be granted repentance later, in due time when it aligns with God's purpose to grant it.
That is the only God in existence. There is no one else.
Some are chosen from the beginning to salvation, and the rest are hardened.
Where is man's free will in any of this? It's nowhere to be found.
