That was one of the stupidest controversies ever. For months left-wing journalists were demanding that the studio not release the movie because it would cause an "incel uprising."
Ironic since the whole subplot of his uprising was based around FAKE NEWS creating a narrative that had nothing to do with the Joker killing those guys on the train. It got so bad that the media clearly was rooting for a mass shooting to justify their coverage so they could say I told you so. It was nuts. The only thing the movie inspired was people dancing down the stairs and posting memes on its way to becoming the highest box office R rated movie of all time. LOL. Owned.
It saddens me that the populace has become stupid enough that they couldn't understand the whole point of the movie was that Arthur Fleck became the Joker as an inevitable result of an evil, uncaring and apathetic society. Because that would mean acknowledging yourself to be responsible for such evil, and that's a no-no for victim culture narcissists.
Too often have I come across a person who watched the movie who summed it up as "be nice or school shooters will kill you." Like, fuck you, you moron.
we remind ourselves that shit, but it's easy to get caught up. Some of my friends are "conservatives" but they are super susceptible to the idiot box narrative bc they don't pay enough attention to know when something is a lie. They aren't "political."
They were calling proud boys white supremacists once, all in agreement ( I try to not insert my opinion unless something irks me this badly) and I just said, "What the fuck are you all talking about? How are they white supremacist or a hate group? Have you seen their leader, their message? Or are you just repeating some bullshit? What did they do?"
And nobody, out of all 5 of them w strong opinions one second before could come up with any answer.
My friends are mostly normies, to not engage with them is to not have friends and not even engage in spreading the message at all. This is by design imo.
Unless you are political, you can still be even right leaning or conservative or Trump supporting and spout absolute shit and have terrible opinions on subjects and understandings of our freedoms and basically be marching towards our country's undoing. The only thing they have going for them is they like guns.
They are younger, like 25, I don't even think they actually believe in absolute freedom of speech.
Sometimes you gotta get shit on your shoes, everything isn't black and white, little turd nuggets of truth can tip the scales in your favor.

It's really not worth it to engage with people still in the Matrix that bad. You'll just get shit on your shoes.

YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE
By the way, the Aurora, CO shooter? He wasn't inspired by the character of the Joker at all. That's the story they ran with for years though.
They are a cancer on society.
TIME FOR SOM CHEMOTHERAPY!!!!!
Can I coin the term “nontroversy?” Because that’s what that Joker shit was.
That movie is the only new movie I've watched in about 4 years. Thought it was pretty good.
