Twitter doesn't come anywhere close to matching their valuation with their profits, Twitter depends on user growth for their valuation which is going to take a beating unless they lie about the user numbers. From once working in tech and being around for the dot com crap, I would be very sure Twitter's user numbers are inflated.
That is why it is very important for people to leave twitter and close their account, likewise to stop linking to there.
I’ve work with a lot of these companies and still do, including Twitter. I know a lot of the people that work there and at all the Big Tech companies because that’s just where I’m at geographically. 20% of their time is spent trying to convince people that they’re providing value to get higher valuations and stock prices. 20% of their time is dealing with contracting out real work. The remaining 60% is spent doing fuck all. All it would take for Twitter to go under is for enough people to realize it provides no real value and actively extracts value from the world.
Even most of their metrics and data are made up and worthless. When it’s not conveying something obvious like “college aged kids like video games” or “people didn’t like this movie,” it’s slices so thin and inflated so much that it conveys nothing, like “soccer moms have a 40% chance of being in some way ‘concerned’ with [x] issue.”
Most people that work out here will be in one company for 6 months to a year or two, then jump ship to another company, and generally accomplish nothing but building a hollow resume meant to impress people that don’t know any better when hiring new folks for jobs that don’t need to be done and have few if any metrics for performance or success. Most of it out here is rich people and their kids coming to get paid a lot while doing little, then hiring their friends and family and girls they wanted to bang. There’s also diversity quota folks, and Chinese and Indian people coming in to then exclusively hire other Chinese and Indian people.
That’s basically Big Tech. There are small handfuls of talented folks here and there that do almost all of the actual work, but it’s not usually being put to any good use anymore in most companies, particularly ones like Twitter.
This is the reason I am currently re-balancing my 401(k) to get out of all funds that have any of the big tech do-nothing stocks in them. Going to bonds, stable value, and small/medium cap stocks. I've got a little over 10 years before I retire so if these companies value tanks I don't have a lot of years to recover those loses.

I’ve work with a lot of these companies and still do, including Twitter. I know a lot of the people that work there and at all the Big Tech companies because that’s just where I’m at geographically. 20% of their time is spent trying to convince people that they’re providing value to get higher valuations and stock prices. 20% of their time is dealing with contracting out real work. The remaining 60% is spent doing fuck all. All it would take for Twitter to go under is for enough people to realize it provides no real value and actively extracts value from the world.
Even most of their metrics and data are made up and worthless. When it’s not conveying something obvious like “college aged kids like video games” or “people didn’t like this movie,” it’s slices so thin and inflated so much that it conveys nothing, like “soccer moms have a 40% chance of being in some way ‘concerned’ with [x] issue.”
Most people that work out here will be in one company for 6 months to a year or two, then jump ship to another company, and generally accomplish nothing but building a hollow resume meant to impress people that don’t know any better when hiring new folks for jobs that don’t need to be done and have few if any metrics for performance or success. Most of it out here is rich people and their kids coming to get paid a lot while doing little, then hiring their friends and family and girls they wanted to bang. There’s also diversity quota folks, and Chinese and Indian people coming in to then exclusively hire other Chinese and Indian people.
That’s basically Big Tech. There are small handfuls of talented folks here and there that do almost all of the actual work, but it’s not usually being put to any good use anymore in most companies, particularly ones like Twitter.
