Over the years, I've heard actual conservative Republicans talk about how embarrassing conservative voters are to the party at large. They are embarrassed by people who cling to standards of law and decency. They hate us. They consider us a necessary evil, something to be conned and manipulated. They hate being associated with us, and they hate having to kiss up to us for votes.

We shouldn't support people who hate us.
