I don't know about the Ontario numbers, but the average teacher's salary in BC is not $99.5k, but the hours and benefits are good. The salary grid is available online on the BCTF website. I worked as a teacher in the BC education system for 6 years. There are some good teachers, but overall the quality of education is NOT GOOD. Indoctrination is probably worse here than in the US. I now homeschool my children.
In Arizona, our teachers went on strike because they didn't make enough. Even the news at the time said wit was ridiculous because the lowest paid teacher in the state made 65K/yr. The gov got them to go back to school with promise of 10K/yr increase for most and others over a two year period.
65K/yr is plenty to survive on in this state. Once you make 45K/yr or more in AZ, its your fault if you have no savings.

Our air force schools never shut down at all.

I paid thousands so my kids could go to a private school so they could be educated. I worked everyday that whole time in my private business. Not sick one day. This is bullshit.

Have a union that will negotiate on your behalf to get you the rest of the years pay when you're caught trying to get with one of the kids.
