I agree. We ARE the base. But that doesn't mean the GOP gives a shit about us or what we think. A lot of Christian Conservatives were Chick filets base too, but that didn't stop them from defunding the Salvation Army. They controlled the purse strings and wanted to expand into some Liberal cities, so fuck the base! The Brexit party won the largest share of the UK national vote four months after it's foundation because the Tories refused to carry out the will of their base. Sorry but I just don't think the GOP is gonna change just because we're mad at them. They think we have no alternative and will forget in a couple of months.
