My guess is they wanted to get Pence to go with Amendment 25 based on getting a real riot to happen on the 6th, but all they got was your basic rave. So they couldn't leverage Pence over a rave.
What to do, go with impeachment, why? To block either an EO, IA, whatever, it was the only card they had.
