Vertical hydroponic. And get yourself a faulty Tesla power wall or a battery pack from one of the cars. They basically discard them, and you don't need to be a tech genius to work a DMM and reconstruct it in working order.
You do need to be very careful with batteries. That’s DC power. You lock on if you get hit by it, meaning it’s the type of electricity that tightens your muscles so you can’t let go.
It's never too late to learn to be self sustaining and prepared. Have been doing this for 10+ years so will share with you some of what I learned:
To really feed a family you need a lot of plants, probably more than you realize. If you have a regular job and kids to take care of, gardening might become a chore instead of a joy if you start off by taking on too much. So start out with a manageable garden your first year and then build it out from there based on what you think you can handle.
If you plan to build a garden with dirt in your yard, send a sample to your local agg co-op. They will test it (maybe free) and send you back an analysis of what nutrients should be added. Prepping your ground is very important -- don't skimp here.
I have found that the best seeds are from my local hardware store (not Lowes or HD) because they carry varieties that work best in my zone. After trying many times with plants from Lowes/HD, I finally had success with strawberries by buying the slips that are native to NC.
Definitely plan herbs -- it's fun all the things you can do with fresh sage, basil and mint.
I used to can but I don't any more because it adds a lot of work -- but I still think you should do it so you can learn that skill -- maybe salsa. We eat our vegetables in season or freeze them.
Build up your store of food from the grocery store over time. Don't mess with coupons because you'll end up buying food that you probably don't eat or won't like. Your store should be the non-perishable / canned basics for what your family already likes -- i.e., rice, beans, corn, soups, pasta, tomato sauce, cereal, oatmeal, tuna, salmon etc. You will be tempted to buy things just because they are on sale but if you don't like it you will end up wasting it. Store what you know that you will eat.
It's important to organize your food first in first out so that you don't end up wasting much. Once you feel that your food store is full, then you just replenish what you use over time.
How you buy your groceries is key. Shop the store sales -- at my store, they will run buy 2 get 3 free chicken or 39 cent canned veg and that's what I buy for that week. At Thanksgiving, they run great deals on sweet potatoes like 20 cents a pound... buy them by the box, cook them up and freeze them in bags. In July, sweet corn is like 5 for a dollar -- that's when I buy and freeze them and can make them last all year.
Set up rain barrels. We use them for watering the garden but they can also be used for drinking/bathing in an emergency if you use a good filter like a Big Berkey.
Most importantly, have fun with it. Do a little over time so that it doesn't overwhelm you, integrate it into your daily/weekly routine until it just becomes a habit and you don't even think about.
You will never regret giving up drinking; did it 5 years ago and one of the best things I ever did.
PS: Sorry this is so long, it just kept growing as I typed it.
Really? I’m planning on starting drinking and smoking again on the 20th. If it really turns out to be over. If we don’t get that one last miracle, then fuck it.
If America ever comes back, it won’t be in our lifetimes.
Going to all digital voting systems was a huge mistake from a security aspect. Add in the mass mail-in ballots and you have a system ripe with fraud. My opinion is that this doesn't get fixed. Rigging will go to the highest bidder unfortunately.
You can buy Mylar bags and oxygen absorbers online. I use 7mil two quart zip top bags and 300cc oxygen absorbers from discountMylarbags.
Every time I go to Costco I buy an extra dry good that I will seal in the Mylar bags. 25 pounds rice for 15 bucks. 20 pounds of black beans for 10 bucks. Bulk Pasta. Quinoa. Whatever.
Fill, then seal the Mylar bags with a iron on the wool setting or with the wife’s hair straightener at about 400f. There are videos online if you’re interested.
Store the bags in Home Depot buckets or similar to avoid punctures.
I’ve found this to be the best way to add staples to your supplies that you can’t necessarily grow in a backyard.
Get a couple books on canning if you want to start that. If you don’t know what you are doing it can be dangerous. Anything pressurized can be dangerous, but I’m talking about botulism. Get good equipment and start slow, reading along and checking off the steps as you go if necessary.
Vaping helped me quit. Had ZERO success until I vaped, then I tapered my self off until I just quit doing it. Having control over the amount of nicotine was a big help. I just kept stepping it down, until there was zero in the vape fluid. Then I just quit....
But I did have to pick up the exercise to keep off any weight gain. It worked, and I didn't gain, but a pound or two.
(not all the other videos about it). Research permaculture (Geoff Lawton) and cover crops (Gabe Brown) and food forests (James Prigioni) and soil food web.
Well said brother. We lead by strength so that those who follow can live though liberty.
Protip: if you want to quit a bad habit, you have to do it right now. The future never comes.
Tomorrow becomes Yesterday
I stopped drinking 2 weeks ago and I can honestly say, this sobriety shit sucks!
Get a rotor tiller and thank me later. First time you break ground and get all the rocks out of the first season will be a nightmare by hand
It's all about prepping the dirt. Lots of compost and organic material
Look for local resources. Everything does not grow everywhere (unless you've got a conservatory! Lol)
There are tons of videos online to give you instruction. The Victory Garden series is great and I'm not even in their zone.
Keep a notebook for varieties you tried that year, where you planted them, etc.
I would rent one, you don't want to keep turning your soil. This kill all the microbial life and turn soil into dirt. Look into no till for the future
Good for you. I hope you accomplish your goals BIGLY!

True, I remember the Thomas Edison elephant slaughter film. But you can train a monkey to understand the simple basics of how not to get electrocuted.
Those power packs are just 7,000 little lithium ion camera batteries. A bunch of series wired clusters, in a parallel configuration.
I'm sure there are a thousand DIY youtube videos that anyone with a brain can follow. She's a Trump supporter. She has a brain.
Lots of soldering, but, she can manage.
Here is list of companion plants, you should get better results and have better space utilization.

Melons bro....theyre easy to grow. Potatoes ...u can call me a homo. But 8ll garden w my friend any day My rents just got a really nice chicken coup.
Dude anyone who calls you a homo for growing food is a moron. I appreciate the input.
Frens Ducking spell check.
Start small with the garden. It won’t seem as fun but you’ll build the habit and succeed.
Pick two things you enjoy the most. Lettuce, zucchini and tomatoes are easy.
Make sure your soil type is correct if you try things like potato’s and carrots.
The rest has to do with what time of year you plant things. Lettuce doesn’t like hot summers. Tomato’s don’t like cold springs etc.
Really? I’m planning on starting drinking and smoking again on the 20th. If it really turns out to be over. If we don’t get that one last miracle, then fuck it. If America ever comes back, it won’t be in our lifetimes.
But if we don't stand now, with conviction, it wont be in our children's lifetime either. Don't give up. You're worth a lot more than you realize.
Its a shill look at the screen name

Good luck.
Listen to "A Country Boy Can Survive." I can do all that.
Now, is anyone sittin here ma'am?
Quitting drinking was the best thing I've ever done. Waking up on Saturday and Sunday mornings without a hangover is a blessing.
The longer you stay sober the easier it gets until you don't even think about it.
11 years sober.
Good for you. Drinking has honestly caused more problems in my life than any others.

The Ball Blue book is a good start.
Whose the babe...?
Why that's the First Lady of The United States. Melania Trump Herself.
Really?!! She looks way different with short hair...
That woman could shave her head like Miley Cyrus and still Win Bigly.
I'm going to try and quit smoking, . . .Again. . . .Maybe this time I will do it.
A tip...only try quitting if you're serious. Don't mess around with patches and gum. Exercise.
Vaping helped me quit. Had ZERO success until I vaped, then I tapered my self off until I just quit doing it. Having control over the amount of nicotine was a big help. I just kept stepping it down, until there was zero in the vape fluid. Then I just quit....

You’ll do it. I have faith in you.
I'm right with you there. I didn't even have the courage to type it. Good for you.
I quit smoking six years ago after 18 years...it’s hard. Once in a while the yearning for smoke. But, I stop myself.
