I mean if you think about it, they were the 'messengers of truth' and they chose to deceit half the nation. Technically, they did the dirty work for the politicians so the blood is on their hands too.
They distributed false narratives about Trump and anyone who voted for him labeling us bigots or racists.(how do you react to that?) Took away our freedom of speech, and destroyed the lives of anyone who spoke out. Not to mention they FED the nation flat out lies on COVID-19 and then highjacked a life saving remedy, hydroxychoriquin, resulting in who knows how many deaths. They also instigated racial divisions and destroyed businesses and even tried to demasculate our men and destroy their lives through the bs me too movement (which suddenly didn't matter when Tara Reade spoke up).
