I suggest consulting with an attorney so you know your rights and remedies before making any decision on whether or not to sue. Most employment law attorneys, at least in my area, will give you a free consultation.

Yes and Canadians have many more rights against employers than Americans.

I love it when Canadiens and other non-americans say shit like this.

You have no understanding of what a right is, or where it comes from.

I'll let you in on a little secret. We have the exact same rights.

Employees have more power over their employers would be the best way of saying it.

No need to be so smug about it, we all know people have the same rights. Just like we know we all breath air, yet clearly some country the air you breath will be shittier quality than others.

We all have the same God-given rights, just whether your country bothers to recolonize it and protects it. If not then you're trying to fit a square piece into a circle hole. It either won't fit you have to make it fit.

They do if they abide by the communist rule of law. If you are deemed to be center or right of center you have literally no rights. Your only right is to beg to not be beaten with a baton.

California is one of the few states where it's actually illegal to discriminate based on a person's political views. OP might have a case.

Only works one way unfortunately.

Wrong CA. He is from America's hat.

As a Canadian this infuriated me.

Did they explicitly say that’s why you were let go?

Office job? Construction?

RegularAmerican 5 points ago +5 / -0

Lol. You know it was some feminine office job. I went to a trump rally once and my boss not only gave me the day off he was like proud of me. (Construction)

I work for a cucked Fortune 500 company but we have a network of undercover Patriots who all said they were proud of me for going. They also resist our company's stupid COVID policies any way they can as well

If I was you. I'd look go suck every resource you can from them. While giving back to them as little as possible. I'm not saying don't try to climb the latter or make more money, please don't take it that way. I just mean whenever it comes to your benefit or the companies, always choose your own. Work as little as possible to keep your status. Never go "above and beyond" I learned this the hard way working for a small employer to nearly killed me while breaking OSHA laws and stuff. I could have gone after him but I legitimately fear him because he's a violent psychopath. I give it a 50% chance he might snap at this point and hurt me or one of my family members.

My wife was injured at her job. And they tried to ghost her because of it. I guess they thought since it was during the start of covid lockdowns the law didn't apply anymore. We settled the injury. Now we're suing the company for the wrongful termination. We got a pretty good case. She was loved by her co workers and was leading in sales by alot. So much so she did get an accolade and personally told she helped save that store location. It's not a fortune 500 but it's decent sized for the industry it is. It's a furniture and home decor company.

Right now we're also collecting every morsel of welfare and guvmint handouts there are. Were both getting paid unemployment, food stamps, WIC, utility discount programs. I just hang out at home and make sure she's comfortable (she's pregnant and it's been rough on her). And I'm not ashamed. We both literally worked our asses off. (I damaged my lower spine). Working. For people who didn't give a fuck about us and turned on us when we needed them. We were always loyal. What a mistake that was. And no one here should feel ashamed for not wanting to contribute to a country that is all a fucking sham. At least that's how its ran. Common street criminals have better ethics and morals than most of our so called leaders.

There are very few reasons in America that you can't fire somebody. If it isn't a protected class (race, religion, disability, veteran status, gender), outside of some location-specific exceptions you can basically be fired for anything.

2
Jeeperyj 2 points ago +2 / -0

In Canada you almost always get a severance unless you’re in construction.

Yep, I've read about Canadian work benefits but (ironically) the American system has largely resisted and reduced workers' rights in the name of free market capitalism.

Dude it's not about the media, they can't fire you for being present in a protest when you did fucking nothing wrong. Stop giving up like a RINO. Pathetic.

Literally can, literally did.

hint 3 points ago +3 / -0

Point is it's not legal.

2
AnnaGram 2 points ago +3 / -1

It's very much legal. OP could maybe challenge if he happens to live in a place where local laws expand the protected classes to include political affiliation, but even so his employer could probably get around it saying that the actual attendance of this specific event was the problem, not his support of Trump overall.

I get kind of conflicting information, but California may be only one of 3 states where it is illegal to discriminate against an employee for 'political affiliation or activities'.

If so, you have a really good case. Please consider.

If so, you have a really good case.

No case whatsoever, unless they said, we found out you are a Republican and we don't want your kind here.

If they said, you went to DC for the riot and we don't like the optics, buh bye, they are completely clean, and there's no tort.
