A glowie is slang for a federal agent. The reason is when they walk into a room or come into a chat they stick out like a sore thumb, or glow. It is obvious who or what they are.

Hello fellow radical, shall we partake in some violent overthrowing of our government? Perhaps we should use our guns and such.

What makes is obvious is their shift in a narrative. We all congregate here to have fun and celebrate Trump, we are not looking to engage in malicious activity, which is what they are looking for, thus, they stand out. It's the same at 4chan.

And just for reference sake... what steps could one of these "glowies" take to stick out less to other caterpillars?

Quit their jobs, pull the stick out of their asses, and fight against the authoritarian/totalitarian forces that are trying to take away Americans freedoms and liberties.

This definition is not wrong. You can still find info on Terry Davis by searching for TempleOS.

Back in 2017, the genius sole programmer and creator of the TempleOS and Internet Personality Terry Davis claimed that CIA or FBI agents are persecuting him, referring them as Glow-in-the-Dark. He died about a year later. While Terry Davis was known to be a nutcase, it was later discovered that federal agents ARE investigating him and that it was possible that Davis's death was no accident nor suicide.

Partially as a tribute to the departed computer genius and partially because it would be funny, 4chan adopted the nickname and it stuck ever since.
