Once you give the government the power to regulate speech they’ll never give it back and they can’t be trusted to wield it fairly. Sure today regulating hate speech means not letting people call for the revival of the CSA and segregation, but in 2084 you’re gonna be really pissed when the government takes you away for posting about their genocides saying it’s “hate speech” or “misinformation”.
Of course threats are a different story. While not my cup of tea free speech protects you if you want to say “I hate all those fucking n*****!” But imo shouldn’t protect you if you make actual serious threats to go kill a guy because of his race or something like that.
