TBF most people didn't. Then a kindergartner asked "but where do the germs go when they get blown off you?" and they figured they should actually test it. The answer was everywhere.

My hot take, we have had our tooth brushes on the counter for decades, same with these hand dryers. Yet we haven’t suffered a colossal pandemic from them. Germs are not the most dangerous thing on this planet. Don’t be gross but don’t spend your whole life trying to eradicate them.

To the contrary, a regular (not gross, as you say) exposure to pathogens is not only normal but healthy.
