Denver used to be a great city, with a culture all its own - we had a world Championship NFL team, a World Series MLB team, great weather, friendly people, low crime and affordable real estate that was going up in value at a healthy rate. Colorado was a solidly red state and Denver was blue, but tolerable. Why would we want to live anywhere else? Then the influx of California silicon companies began their exodus in droves - many landed in Denver. In addition, the porous borders to the south brought illegals by the tens of thousands, possibly more. I first noticed the change on the roads. A cities culture is made on its roads and the decent friendly drivers had been overtaken by rude, lawless vehicles with California plates and a shit load of $500 beaters with peeking tint and stolen license plates (illegals). They took over our roads and made Denver a city no one enjoyed getting around in anymore. The new residents from California complained openly that all we needed was better mass transit. Then they got involved in local government and made every street in Denver accommodate bike lanes, rearranging everything to accommodate those who insist on having the right of way on the streets, at all times -yet do not pay a single penny of tax dollars to maintain those very streets or to rearrange lanes and parking for them. But it was an urgent necessity as it was GREEN and morally correct and don’t you dare say anything otherwise. Now, Colorado is solidly blue and Denver is one of the most corrupt city / county municipalities in the country. After 40 years there, we got the hell out. I miss the weather and the way it was - those were great times. But what still shocks me is just how swiftly liberals can take something really great and destroy it in record time. Dare criticize what they’ve done and you’re a racist, _____phobe, etc. it will never go back, so to those states and cities who think it’s a good idea to bring in these Californians - just look at the places who have already done this. Leftists will not assimilate to where they’re going. They insist on improving it by recreating their destruction from where they came. They are literally a cancer to this country. It’s easily provable. My advice is don’t do it. If you do - pass laws ahead of the influx to protect your unique cultures, way of life and your roads and traffic. If you don’t they’ll Clair your town unrecognizable in 18 months or less and brag about making it better to your face.
