Presidents don't lock people up. They may encourage their FBI Chief to investigate a suspected crime, and I strongly suspect he did exactly that. You see the result of a deeply corrupted agency. It needs to be flattened.
It's not that you're wrong, that's how things are suppose to work, but eventually you need to go hands on and clean house yourself if your appointees aren't getting results.

Trump’s issue was there is too much swamp. He has to get his appointments confirmed. So swamp confirms swamp. I think he finally found a way around that by appointing acting officials that swamp really hated (Ric Grenell) in order to get slightly better appointments.
