This Sunday I will be going to my first church service in 4 years. I'm a combat veteran, and watching the decline of our country has filled me with hate. I hope coming back to God and submitting to his leadership will fix the hatred that I have. The hatred was fine when I was fighting in Sangin, and Gamshir. But now I need gods guidence to bring me back from the brink. I need God to guide me on how to fight for my country with the shield of God in front of me. Pray for me please.

"The strong do what they can, the weak suffer what they must." ~ Melian Dialogue

That is the history of the world, of man and beast alike, past, present and future.

So, do you stand among the strong or the weak?

"God helps those who help themselves" is a nice way of saying he doesn't care or isn't there!

That's also not in the Bible.

I swear I'm not making this up. I spent my drive home from work today wondering that exact question: whether that specific phrase came from the Bible or not. Get home, take a nap, open up td and find this comment thread.

I would argue that Romans 13 certainly supports it exactly this!

... but I guess we can forget the last 5,000 years of human history because "dAt aiN't iN da Bible!" 🤦‍♂️🙄

Romans 13 in NO WAY teaches or supports the concept of "God helps those who help themselves", nor is it taught or supported anywhere else in the Bible.

That? I never said it was, but it is a saying among Christians.

Either way, you've got nothing.

The Bible teaches total reliance on God. Does it mean we sit on our hands? No, but absolute reliance.

“Apart from me, you can do nothing”

Romans 13 teaches that you should submit to tyrants, even cheaters like Biden, because they are "instituted" by God and "appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment." Gee, what a "powerful" message: give the bully what he wants! 🙄

Again, the weak must suffer the will of the strong. Nothing new or fancy there. The Greeks caught on to that "wisdom" around 400 BC, and I certainly saw it play out on the playground when I was young, then again in college, then again in the work place, and then again this summer when Antifa/ BLM hijacked this country.
