It feels like none of this even matters at this point. Our President was impeached AGAIN and I honestly didn't even feel a single emotion. It almost felt like a badge of honor. I haven't heard a single person even bring it up in person, it's almost like it never even happened. We are living in some weird times right now, folks.

My feelings exactly. Is the goal to get everyone numb to these types of actions?

42
KingSweyn 42 points ago +42 / -0

Yes. They are throttling the crisis and fine-tuning it for apathy. Too much crisis creates revolt, too little lacks the desired disassociation.

This is the phase of a color revolution which hardens the beliefs of opposing factions, making them nigh impossible to change.

It was the same thing with the first impeachment. It was completely ineffectual and effectively forgotten. It was so utterly forgotten that I don't think I ever saw a single Biden ad using the impeachment as ammunition.

Not only has impeachment been rendered cheap and meaningless, but all politics in general. Every political statement is merely fanservice towards that side's voterbase. Extremely few people are switching sides anymore. That's why the democrats are resorting to outright seizures of power via covert, illegal means. And the republicans are doing... well, idk. Dying and being replaced by the Trump party i guess.

The country needs to dissolve.

The only people who ever talked about it were on Reddit. No normies ever brought it up to me.

12
Carry_Your_Name 12 points ago +12 / -0

How is it gonna proceed in the senate? We know that the purpose of this impeachment is to throw him and all of his legacy into the memory hole, but a private citizen can’t be impeached. If the turtle doesn’t bring it to the senate floor before next Wednesday as he says, the motion should automatically be denied. But I can’t say the same about cryin Schumer though.

15
540k-Again 15 points ago +17 / -2

Hint: The HOUSE (and Senate) isn't even legit atm.

By federal law, set with power straight from the US Constitution, their Elections have to be held on Election Day; ie not ballots days before, not ballots days after; but only on THE DAY, aka Election Day.

As set by the Constitution, Article 1, Section 4: Congressional elections; Clause 1:Time, place, and manner of holding :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_One_of_the_United_States_Constitution#Clause_1:_Time,_place,_and_manner_of_holding

"The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing [sic] Senators."

2 U.S. Code Β§ 7 - Time of election https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/2/7

The Tuesday next after the 1st Monday in November, in every even numbered year, is established as the day for the election, in each of the States and Territories of the United States, of Representatives and Delegates to the Congress commencing on the 3d day of January next thereafter. (R.S. Β§β€―25; Mar. 3, 1875, ch. 130, Β§β€―6, 18 Stat. 400; June 5, 1934, ch. 390, Β§β€―2, 48 Stat. 879.)

How many congress critters from 2020, (or 2018 and 2016 in the Senate too) won their contests because of ballots before or after Election Day? Enough that there's not enough legit members atm.

3
RuleoVicus 3 points ago +3 / -0

God damn right.

Ballots are for people that come into work late, all the time.

-2
randomusers239874 -2 points ago +1 / -3

You're confusing when a ballot is cast with when it is counted. Ignoring the extra ballots fraudulently back dated and such, as long as the ballot is cast on the 3rd, it doesn't matter when it's counted. They could count for months and it would still be legal just so long as new ballots weren't accepted. You are unfortunately wrong (of course, ignoring the general fraud that occurred).

2
kjj9 2 points ago +2 / -0

The law doesn't set the date for "voting" it sets the date for "the election". An election is both the voting and the counting.

1
randomusers239874 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's not how "election" has been interpreted by the supreme court IIRC, so you are wrong. Technically speaking (barring fraud of course), once a ballot is cast it doesn't matter when it's counted, and thus the election has been set at the end of the day even if the results aren't known.

2
Herecomedatpresident 2 points ago +2 / -0

But there were tons of ballots cast prior to and in some cases after the 3rd

2
randomusers239874 2 points ago +2 / -0

Technically, they're not "cast" until they are opened. But yes, anything after the 3rd is illegal. There were court cases about then, and IIRC we did win, but it seems like they states just went "whoops!" and kept the counts anyways. I'm not saying there wasn't illegal ballot casting, just pointing out that election day doesn't mean that counting can't continue longer than the day itself. It's a subtle point, but an important one.

1
540k-Again 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm not confusing or conflating the two issues of:

  • 1.) Ballots being voted (aka voting);

with the issue of

  • 2.) Ballots being counted.

By law above, voting has to occur on Election Day. So any ballots cast before Election Day are void. Any ballots cast after Election Day are void. Only ballots cast ON Election Day are legitimate. [Note to "cast a ballot" isn't just the first part of filling out a ballot, but that ballot has to be "cast" as in put into the Ballot Box at a legal Poll site with integrity. Filling out a mail ballot or one at the polls, is not "casting a ballot"; thus rounding up ballots that weren't put into the Registrar's ballot box(es) by Election close on Election Day are void(uncast but filled out ballots)."]

Example of casting ballots afterwards(and usually fraudulently filling them out too) includes CA Dems doing +17 day ballot harvesting to steal the House in 2018 & 2020; and in "cure'g ballots" after Election Day allowing voters to "fix" their ballot/envelope (ie changing their legal document after Election Day, retroactive aka Ex Post Facto.)

This above is also a separate issue from "mail/absentee" ballots.

For instance, the absentee ballot that was dated & signed ON Election Day is still ok as per above, if dated/signed on another day it is not.

The issue of if mail/absentee ballots are themselves being legal or illegal, because they fundamentally break the-ballot-chain-of-custody and break Election Integrity many ways, is another separate legal issue.

SurfingUSA 1 point ago +1 / -0

Prima facie, late counted ballots are rigged.

As the House debated whether to impeach President Trump for a second time, Gohmert took the floor and presented what he hinted was a Democratic double standard.

"Here's a quote: 'I just don't even know why there aren't more- why there aren't uprisings all over the country and maybe there will be,'" Gohmert began. "Or, 'Sadly, the domestic enemies of our voting system and honoring our Constitution are right at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with their allies in Congress.' We were called 'enemies' of the state. Those were all quotes from our speaker.

"Now, on our side, we didn't take those to be impeachable because we didn't believe she surely meant that," Gohmert added. "But by the Democrats taking this action, you're telling me, 'No, when we say those, we actually mean to incite violence.' That's what this action is saying."

At some point we gotta get off the defensive. The left’s playbook is always call someone a racist. Maybe we start filing lawsuits. Start suing these pieces of shit. Make them lawyer up. Start the discovery process in their finances. Give them something to keep them up at night. That should be the 2021 thing to do.

4
MuhFreeStuff [S] 4 points ago +6 / -2

Here's the playbook. It's free and open to all, but the Right doesn't have the mind or stomach for it, sadly.

4
Grunge 4 points ago +4 / -0

Sadly it doesn't work that way. The make believe rules are only enforced when the right is in the scope.

Its not in the water, it's on every screen. Your phone pushes news propaganda, your browser pushes it, your TV pushes it. It only takes 1 generation to completely change the landscape. Look at how ISIS takes young kids and has them execute people, that's all those kids know and they will grow up doing the same with their kids.

Teacher's unions are, directly or indirectly, the cause of all of America's problems. - Scott Adams

4
ImFinallyNotAnAlt 4 points ago +4 / -0

That’s why we’re supposed to teach our kids who Jesus is, but somehow we’ve lost that. Not the prosperity doctrine that has perverted our churches but the actual Jesus written in our scriptures.

1
f_bastiat 1 point ago +1 / -0

My wife and I are agnostic but we send our kids to Christian school and play the part for their sake.

0
KingSweyn 0 points ago +2 / -2

The actual Jesus written that tell his followers to rejoice in their abuse, to invite further abuse, and to treat a foreign enemy as your own kin because a priest dipped him in water?

Christianity is why white countries are soft targets!!! It was crafted by our enemies to weaken subvert and destroy the Romans, and it went much further than they intended. It is the first hole in our armor. It stops good people from defending themselves. It stops the righteous from acting. AND THAT WAS FULLY DELIBERATE with the design.

Anti-racism rejects reality, and its roots are Christian. Anti-slutshaming rejects morality, and its roots are Christian. Tolerating evil that aims to harm you or your society is "the Christian to do". And, modern Christianity reserves a special place of honor for the very evil trying to destroy us, but it didn't always. They once had a special place of condemnation and disgust, but they got a priest to dip them in water and started subverting. Now they're allegedly better than regular people.

Jesus IS the perversion. Righteousness is not defended or maintained by his methods, only lost. The most successful periods of Christianity ignored his words, spreading faith by the sword. When people started reading the gospels themselves, our society began its rot. Because the words of the book, faithfully followed, will collapse any Christian society.

Let's keep the divine redemption theme, that's super super valuable, but quit turning your cheeks and refusing to stand for the law because you've ever sinned. Stupid.

1
Whatyougotson 1 point ago +1 / -0

There are different types of Christians and we aren't all soft.

1
KingSweyn 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes, there are Christians who don't take Jesus seriously, like yourself. Who refuse to turn cheeks. But the man in the stories is a hardcore pacifist that would sooner die than fight back. And it shows in his fans.

I openly encourage you to ignore the places where Jesus and Christianity have sinned (fallen short of the ideal, missed the mark), and to return to the true faith of God, which puts a lot more emphasis on community- and self-defense, which encourages in-group preference and xenophobia, which does not lower defenses for those who have tried to harm you. I think what you're doing is great, taking the words of the Son of God and recognizing them as flawed idealism. 100% behind you. It's more of a social faith than a real faith, right?

Just like organisms, religions must pass the test of evolution. How many Pythagorean cultists exist today? (Yes, the triangle guy.) How many shaking Quakers? Both groups failed at producing children, and vanished forever. Some beliefs work better than others, right? Religions that oppose sex outside of marriage have higher birth rates. Cultures that believe in the equality of women have below-replacement birth rates - such societies will be conquered by more patriarchal cultures, which returns the population to the correct belief, which is God's law.

So on a belief-by-belief basis, we can determine what will result in improved outcomes for the adherents. In this way, we can piece together the "ultimate religion", the convergent evolution of religion, a flawless blend of pragmatism and idealism. In fact history has done most of the work for us, as the longest lasting cultures and religions have most of the best beliefs. If they didn't, they would have disappeared already.

So Christianity is quite close to the perfection of good religion, and just a few adjustments would bring it back to God.

1
Whatyougotson 1 point ago +1 / -0

Religion is control and a mental construct. Noone controls my destiny besides myself. You can be a bitch and let them lead you to the cross but not myself. If you believe what you say then God has a plan for everyone and made me the way I am for a reason.

1
KingSweyn 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you have two populations, and one sees the world as it is, and the other sees the world nothing like it is, but sees things in terms of survival and evolutionary fitness, the second population takes over every time. Here, have a terrific 20min explanation about organic perception of reality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYp5XuGYqqY We are not conscious beings as much as we are perpetual survival engines with analytical intelligence slapped on as an afterthought.

Religion is that deviation from reality-as-it-is which is more successful, from an evolutionary perspective, than adherence to reality. Throughout history, religious people have had more children than realist people. That's why religion has been and will always be prevalent.

But it's not the only reason. Religions have not just evolved for their own health and survival, as Islam has, harming its individual adherents to empower the faith itself. Most religions are also a boon for personal psychological health and community relations.

You're a bitter atheist, it's a common theme and it's bad for your mental and social health. It's irrational to hold this grudge against successful ideas which evolution has selected. I'm not asking you to believe or disbelieve anything, just recognize the whole function of the memeplexes. If they actually did more harm than good, they wouldn't exist like this.

If you want to know the truth, you have to get your ego out of the way. Quit giving ideas so much power over your emotions.
