If the country itself continues to drift left, pulling shit like this will do nothing because the moment you reveal your true colors, you will be ousted and cancelled. Or, best case scenario, you manage to stay in office long enough to pass a couple conservative laws; so you force the leftist population to live conservatively for a while, but the propaganda machine ensures they hate it and attribute all successes to leftism.
What's the downside, you can't run for office again? If you do nothing, you lose anyway. At least if you do this, you'll occasionally get a Pierre Delecto. That's assuming you're right. You're not right. Look at the republican party. How many rinos? Yeah, that's what I thought. If you get half as many plants as there are republican backstabbers, conservatives will never lose a fair election again. Yeah, there's no more elections okay but if you don't try then don't open your mouth. Just go about your business doing other things.
