I mean, I've thought the U.S. and Mexico have been due for a Pinochet style cleanup for a good while now.

We live under the illusion of freedom at the moment, these past 4 years especially exposed that. A strong leader and military and people to clean up the society and rectify it. Only after a good period and things are sorted out, can a constitution be brought in and a republic reinstated. I love the constitution, I think due process and the rule of law is important, but they rely on justice and the justice system working properly and free of corruption. In reality things have been so far gone that there is no way to democratically or diplomatically fix these things anymore through reform. The only options are limited.
