Don't underestimate the gasslighting powers of a unionized school teacher!

I've seen lectures that spin the book to be exactly, only and specifically about "Donald Trump and his Fascistic rise to power," despite Orwell specifically casting his own Socialists as the baddies in a book published 66 years before DJT announced his campaign. 🙄

The Left pushes many "creative" and "interpretive" readings to fit their agenda!

That's some interesting mental gymnastics given that Donald Trump was just banned off every media platform. And who pushes endless war again? I forget.

Pretty sure Trump and his fans aren't advocating for reeducation camps and struggle sessions either.

This was back in 2017, when they were having organized screenings and public book readings of "1984" at Lefty colleges across the country. I think they quit after people started mentioning how, in fact, Socialist are the villains of the book.

im gonna be real, something is not right here. If amazon is in the big tech fascist conspiracy together with facebook, google and twitter then how do they allow this book to go mainstream ? They should have secretly censor it.

They're not going to do that and they don't need to either. There's still books for sale on Amazon from the whole FoxNews cabal and Amazon is happy to take your money for it. De-listing those books would only hurt the publishers, who certainly have many, many other books for sale on Amazon; maintaining that relationship and keeping their monopoly on the book market is more important to Amazon than taking away your Ann Coulter books.

... besides, nobody reads anymore! 🙄

It doesn't matter, you can draw your own conclusions when you're reading something

That's not so easy when you're a teenager that couldn't give two shits either way and have a teacher grading your work and expecting certain answers from you. Most young folks aren't going to fight their teachers on the "real" meaning of a book they likely don't even want to read.

Well-- I did, but I was really into reading as a kid. It is a personal experience more than what you are told. The thing about great writing that is read for a long time is that it is so powerful in evoking. For many, at some point, something they hear or see will remind them of what they read, regardless of lame teacher. Personally, I always kept my own opinions of what we learned and hardly ever listened to the teacher. But then at that time more individuality of thought was encouraged.

Correct. People today aren't taught how to think, they're told what to think!
