Yeah. Gulags are an old style of population control. They have many more effective tactics now that cause much less pushback when they phase them in slowly. We may be going into authoritarianism, but this isn't the old Soviet Union, they have adjusted their approach since then.

My use of the term gulag was supposed to be more figurative than literal.... What term could I have used that would be more appropriate?
