Even if their website doesn't have it for the same price, call them up.. Tell them you found their product on Amazon and would like to get it for that price, but would like to give them the money directly instead of giving Amazon a cut. They will usually match the price and frequently offer free shipping since they still end up with more money than if you order through Amazon.
Direct pricing is usually higher on the company website because they have the MSRP, not what they will actually accept, and they have agreements not to advertise lower prices, but no obligation not to sell at lower prices.
Sometimes when you check a product that only shows a photo, when you click it, it takes you straight to Amazon. I just had it happen a few minutes ago with a portable 5 Terabyte hard drive. I was like... nah.. fuck that. Good price, but I've never ordered from Amazon one single time and never will. I don't need the hard drive but I was curious and the price was pretty decent. Like $140 or so.
Doing to Amazon what they did to the brick and mortar stores eh?
I remember a Best Buy sales guy saying years ago they were just a showroom for Amazon as everyone would come in to see the products, but buy them on amazon.
The only thing I've ordered online has been tools or auto parts I couldn't get locally and after adding in shipping, it cost me more to do it. I always save by buying in person locally. It may have a lot to do with my state and locale.
What is a good alternative to a Kindle? That's the last thing I need to replace to rid my life of the Amazon scumbags. I can't carry books and the paperwhite is easier on my eyes than a tablet.
A Kobo. All of their models are ad-free, their lower end models have some of the features only present in the higher end Kindles, and they have built-in support for Overdrive which lets you access library books. You can also, of course, load your own ebooks onto them.
If you don't have Prime (who does anymore?), buying direct from a private seller often, in my experience, gets the item to you faster.
Amazon ships it themselves, sometimes delivering to your post office who then delivers to you, and that's slower than private sellers which (mostly) just use the post office or a private courier
Can confirm. Found a cb radio on amacon, went to seller's website and got for the same price as well as free shipping since it was over $100.
Right on. I need a CB. I haven't had one since the nineties. Now more than ever one might turn out to be a life saver.

Except, don't use Google.
^this.
No. Buy them. Then return them
One last plug. Thriftbooks.com is usually very quick when it comes to shipping used books. Not always, but then Amazon isn't either lately.
I recently bought from bookoutlet and got a good deal on like 12 books. I think they are a commie Canada company though, with a space out of NY.
I feel like step 1 almost defeats the purpose entirely.

I feel like we should be avoiding Google as much as Amazon.
Using "Qwant" as your search engine. Love it.

Use whatever search engine floats your boat.
What also floats in water?
Bread.
Apples.
Very small rocks.
A duckduckgo. <---this one

Wow, kind of like how we used to do, before Amazon
Did this on a $300 purchase yesterday, only cost me $10 more in the end. Happy to pay $10 more to support an american business that isn't Amazon.

These companies and Apps only exist to assist our laziness. I feel like we are returning to the internet of the late 90's!
And if you can't find it off Amazon, it's probably cheap Chinese crap you don't want anyway.
Yes! This is the important bit. If you can't find it anywhere else, it is Chinese crap. Amazon is the biggest seller of Chinese shit in the usa
Also check out these sites:

chinanever and stillmadeinusa have excellent lists.
This is the way.

Paper books. Nobody can edit them or censor them after you have them except you.
And Amazon also removes ebooks you paid for, from your account, if they're deemed "unacceptable" by the fascists. And you don't get a refund either.

Yeah don't buy harddrives, videocards and such from amazon. Worst luck.
Another thing you can do is return it, and sometimes if it's cheap enough they'll refund you without asking for the item back.

And if it's extremely heavy buy it from Amazon then return it and then buy it from the manufacturer Direct.
