In Cheney's case, she really ought to be resigning about now, given how overwhelming the outrage of her nominal constituents is.
Normally, I'd go look up what each states' procedures are, but I suspect this might be a moot point if things turn out this upcoming week like I hope/expect.

The Republicans there are pretty much demanding that Liz Cheney resign. They are doing it correctly, too, from what I can tell.
They wrote her a sternly worded letter and she ignored it. As would I, if I received anything from the GOP.
