Liberty has always been a part of the American soul. Germany/Prussia has been the opposite, more authoritarian, very militaristic, orderly, with a clear and strong hierarchy. We like to do shit right, we were idealistic and romantic thinkers, perfectionist and the military needs shit to be working properly, so shut up and do what you are told, for the sake of your country. The Germany that I grew up in does not jive with the Germany I read about in the history books. There is no military basically. No pride, because pride is dangerous. Patriotism is old school. We've lost our way in my oppinion. Sure, our nature is still there, but this EU shit is lame. The status quo is dull but it's safe and people prefer the devil they know than the devil they don't know. They prefer the safe status quo that is depressing rather than the high energy patriotism of a Trump. Well, I like it, but I'm in the minority here and I can't change that.
