Our rights are not given to us by the courts, politicians nor a populace. Our rights are endowed by our Creator and accorded to us on that "piece of paper". Maybe if all those you mentioned abided by and followed that "piece of paper", we wouldn't be where we are right now. Most of us treasure that "piece of paper".

True but our creator isn't exactly going to force the government to respect those rights. Our founders didn't even put them in the constitution originally because they didn't there was a need to spell it out. For us today it's actually good they did right those out and gave the citizenry a legal avenue to force the government to respect those rights. To ensure our courts will actually rule in favor of our rights we need to address the SCs authority over what is and isn't constitutional, it's all well and good they are a final authority on the matter but by not making sure they are legally required to rule based on the text itself we have a situation where our constitution can be changed on the whim of an unelected judges interpretation of the wording irregardless of how ridiculous their interpretation is. Our rights are dependent on corrupted human imagination currently, not our creator nor a fair and just legal system held to strict constitutional standards. I don't who is in a position to force the SC to make ruling based on the text as written and intended when a state is told it has no standing in a case against another state regarding presidential elections.
