The National Guard helps out with every Inauguration. It’s not usually this many though.

The most plausible answer I see here is that this guy’s unit was initially slated and has been preparing.

I think standard NG presence at inauguration is ~7k so say 1/3 to 1/4 of the units there would have probably been working up for this for months. That doesn’t mean everyone there planned for it though.

Yeah no way did they plan 30k. That dude is spewing the official line that he is told to spew.

He’s probably just talking about his company. Captain’s are usually only in charge of a company made up of 100-200 soldiers.

They’ve been planning this for several months, How did they know that it was going to require so much enforcement several months ago?

Yeah ... I doubt that.

NG doesn't work like that and the entire COUNTRY is sending troops there. That's the one thing that bothers me. I've emailed my governor chewing him out. My state should NOT be assisting in helping a coward feel safe.

All of this. 25,000 troops. For ONE man. An old, infirm, dementia riddled man. President or not, he can be replaced. He's not THAT important. He's ABSOLUTELY NOT 25,000 guard important. Maybe 20. Tops.
