Brings to mind Michael Crichton's book State of Fear. There's a great chapter where a character basically gives a soliloquy on how government needs to keep people afraid and in that case the fear was " global warming". I really miss Crichton. Lots of great speeches on utube. Unless, of course, they've been banned.
