Yes. Democracy is mob rule, and nobody wants that. We have standards and rules that are above everyone. That's the beauty of the constitution. The founding fathers were some of the wisest men to walk this Earth.

And the vast majority of Americans don't appreciate how fortunate we are too have been born and raised here. We have it better than 99% of any humans that have ever lived. Just a 150 years ago, how many people had to run outside in the winter to use the restroom?
My brothers and I remind each other of exactly that. We were so fortunate to be born at this time and place in history. I was a teen of the 70's. Too young to get caught up in the 60's nonsense and lived at a time of cheap gas, great music, cool clothes and freedom to be and go wherever your heart led you. The first person I ever voted for was Ronald Reagan and while I appreciated the culture, art and alternative things the liberals brought to our community (true liberals then), I always instinctively knew it was best if they stayed at about 30% of the population because if they ever got in control, they'd make a huge mess of things. But having a few of them brought some balance to ultra-conservatism. Sadly, they did get in control and that led to weak men and here we are.
Sadly not just big city. It’s really dependent on income. Unfortunately Those conservative who fled out great nations economic centers and ceded them to liberal are weak.
If we ran just 3 of the swing state cities we’d be in a much better place.
If I’m fine voicing my views in Chicago I truthfully think people who leave cities for purely political reasons are pussies. Pretending we’d be ok while giving up the cultural hubs of our nation was idiotic

Those 2 things are not mutually exclusive. The US is a representative democracy and a constitutional republic. You vote, through a democratic process, for representatives in your constitutional republic.
