Definitely. It just reduces the amount of available jobs on the market, and increases the demands that you do high-effort work to earn that salary if you get a job. Yet another failed leftist idea. As usual their ideas make sense if you don't think.
It's just like when the Big Tech companies welcome loads of new regulations, of which they have hundreds of lawyers on staff to deal with. Makes it too expensive for small tech companies to start up.
Exactly. Regulations kill small businesses but corporations handle them easily, which is why they love regulations.
And patents are another thing that big corporations use to prevent competition. You could invent the world's most revolutionary, perfect product, and I guarantee that you will be infringing on about 15 thousand patents requiring 500 million dollars of licensing fees even though you never even heard of those patents before. And the corporations just do free patent sharing agreements with each other. So it is nothing but a corporate racket to protect each other against upstarts.
The idea of patents for upstarts is good but it's completely broken and upstarts can't afford to build the products they've invented due to all their patent infringements. Maybe initially they fly under the radar, but if they become too big, the corporations can just leaf through their patent portfolios and crush the mosquito.
Itβs a way to provide a financial incentive for corporations to avoid paying minimum wage by using sweatshop labor, prison labor, and illegal labor. Increasing the minimum wage makes it impossible for any company trying to hire Americans to compete in the market.
Well of course. But it also serves the purpose of winning over more of the lower income voters for the democrat party. "Even though most of us no longer have jobs, when we do find a job someday at least we'll make more money. And even though everything costs a lot more money and our higher minimum wage is worth a lot less, at least the democrats look out for us and gave us a raise."
I agree, but would like to add. Its more than just stopping new competitors. It is to increase the number of people living on welfare. The price of everything will go up accordingly, many people will loose their jobs. (I have already been told if this passes the restaurant i deliver for will get rid of all delivery drivers and use only 3rd party services.)
This is far more than just stopping the competition it's neutering the publics ability to fend for themselves.
This, 100%. And an additional benefit is that it fools lower income people into thinking the democrat party is looking out for them so they'll continue voting democrat year after year.
Problem with raising the minimum wage is that it'll achieve nothing. Rasing the minimum wage raises the cost of production which raises the cost of goods and services which just leaves working people exactly where they are.
Say the minimum wage is $5/hr and a gallon of milk is $5. Then you raise the wage to $15/hr then a gallon of milk goes to $15. It changes nothing, helps no-one.
It's just throwing red meat to the twitter lefties so they can feel like they had a win.
Leftist formula:
Enjoy your Amazon chow.
The chocolate ration has been increased from 30 grammes to 20 grammes.

Yeah exactly. It just moves more of the workforce abroad, and automates the remainder with robots in developed nations.

Haha holy shit, that is spot on. Their $15 minimum wage has has terribly low value in a Democrat-ruined society.
Raising the minimum wage is outlawing low wage labor, it has never been employed without a huge surge in unemployment
It's not capitalistic, it's crony corporatistic.
Only if you are a cute cat. Yes.

No. Itβs to punish mostly red states who havent already raised it because they have kept their cost of living low, like Mississippi.
Minimum wage should be set at state level, not fed.
