One of a few things is going to happen. The left is going to suddenly love the cops, and throw money at them, (the cops won't forget but...) And they will get as many of their goons into uniform as possible (to the detriment of the police as a crime fighting agency) OR they won't be able to contain themselves and will keep crushing the police until they don't exist.
It's also possible a federal police force will be created to replace local police, and will be used as much as a thought crimes unit as it will a crime squad.
