I guess more blatantly for the proles. If we get to the point of Martial law, then we're basically living under a tyrannical govt. In which, we will need the means to resist and to rebel. Getting to the point of marital law means it is a very slippery slope in which dictatorships and other bad things can arise, because we no longer have a constitution.
So, even if trump declares martial law, there is very little from stopping a general from doming Trump and declaring himself king. Their first order of business will be to quell the population's ability to revolt. Which will be to seize all guns.
The ability for forethought is a rarer and rarer quality. If the government lies to us, then what are they really doing with 30k troops in DC?
Sorry if this is being a downer... but if completely losing the right to elect our rulers, and then having an election stolen from us, then them doing it again right in our faces just to rub it in, didn't trigger that, I don't think anything will.
