Nah, I think the GOPe uses the threat of impeachment for a deal - no declassification of truly damaging material, no pardons for "controversial" figures, and they will block the impeachment. Though of course

a) they are not to be trusted NOT to backstab him anyway after he held up his part of the deal

and

b) the GOP would be finished if they vote to impeach him.

I agree. But making any consessions to RINO is/was a mistake. Pardon all 3.

If they impeach him after that they will be more hated by their base than the democrats forever.
